Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets, steamed and finely chopped
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Olive oil (for baking) or vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

Preparation:

  • Steam the broccoli florets until tender. Drain excess water and finely chop the broccoli.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) if baking.

Making the Broccoli Cheese Balls:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped broccoli, grated cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, beaten eggs, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • For Baking: Brush the broccoli cheese balls with olive oil and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  • For Frying: Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the broccoli cheese balls until they turn golden and crispy on all sides.
  • Remove from the oven or pan and allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the broccoli is well-drained before mixing to prevent the mixture from becoming too moist.
  • Experiment with different cheeses or add herbs for varied flavors.
  • To make them vegetarian-friendly, opt for vegetarian cheese options.
